This powerful novel was written in 1913, but for ever nineth yeaars it has existed only in a weaker, censored form, published as Desert Gold. That edited version trimmed violence, changed dialogue...and removed the climactic fight scene altogether. The results was a novel quite different from the one Zane Grey has intended. Now nearly a century later, Shower of Gold has been completely restored, using the author's original manuscript.
